I mean, come on people, it’s just a calendar.

Just think, if the Mayans had spent an extra afternoon working out their calendar, we wouldn’t be going through this malarkey until, say, 2049 or somesuch.

They had to stop making the thing at some point. They probably figured hundreds of years in the future was enough.
